Bodega Can Rubí

The Can Rubí winery in Santa Maria del Camí, popularly known as Can Marranxa, produces and sells wines and liqueurs such as herbs and vermouth. Some of its products have the distinctive Protected Geographical Indication Vi de la Terra Mallorca. Likewise, the herbs also have the Herbes de Mallorca label.

The history of this winery begins in 1912 when Bartomeu Rubí restarted the family’s winemaking activity after the phylloxera plague reached France and later the island in the mid-19th century. Bartomeu began to produce and sell wine in bulk, with the help of his son Antoni, who continued the activity until he was forced to interrupt production due to the Civil War. It was not until 1960 that his son Tomeu started up the business again.

Llorenç and Tomeu Rubí, current owners of the winery and fourth generation of the family, preserve the tradition as winegrowers, keeping the memory of their great-grandfather. They still keep the wines in bulk (white, rosé, soft red, intense red, semi-sweet red), which is, in fact, what marks the trajectory and the years of the winery.

A considerable number of products can be purchased at the Plaça Nova shop. We can highlight the butts for the sale of bulk wine of various varieties: red wine, white wine, rosé, vermouth, among other liquors such as palo, herbs or almond liqueur. All bottled wines are also available. In addition, the shop has tables for tasting its products.

Although the basis and the beginnings of this winery has been the bulk wine, they have a long experience in the bottling of wine that increases year after year. Equipped with new technologies and at the forefront of new techniques, they have launched several lines of high quality wine. In addition to the shop, tastings, promotions, etc. are offered. In short, Can Rubí exhibits constant evolution and adaptation, as well as innovation and tradition.
