Botiga Son Poca Palla
In 1888, Jordi Noguera Caldés, an entrepreneur and businessman of his time, opened the doors of this establishment, considered “an institution” in Llucmajor. The shop offered all kinds of products, for daily use or not, and anything could be found there.
Margalida, the founder’s daughter, took over the management of the business, when it became known as “Ca na Jordi”. She followed in her parents’ footsteps and dedicated herself to perpetuating their legacy. The containers they used, as well as the shelves and counters, are still preserved and displayed in the shop today in perfect condition.
In 2018 the establishment reopened its doors after 25 years of closure, guided by Lucía Contreras, who knew how to maintain the old essence of the shop. “Objetario” became a shop selling decorative products and peculiar handcrafted objects imported from different parts of the world.
In 2023 Lucía transferred the business to Artesania la Palma, with almost 100 years of experience in the world of the tin trade in Capdepera, as attested by a local tax receipt from 1935 and bibliographical references. From his hand, the Son Poca Palla shop now opens in Llucmajor, taking up the baton of this establishment, which lives on in the collective memory of the locals, to give it a new lease of life.
Son Poca Palla’s offer is very varied, specialising in handmade local craft products. We can find basketry and other articles made from plaited tin, ceramics, knives, bread baskets, cloth made from llengües, costume jewellery, glass, food products, footwear and leather goods.
