Ca na Magdalena
Magdalena Pons de Can Casetes started the business in 1951 with a manicure and beauty service in a small room that today forms part of the establishment. Gradually, she expanded the activity with the sale of nail polish and colognes in bulk. Since then, new items have been added, always with the intention of satisfying the demands of the clientele.
The establishment has always been in the same location, in one of the main streets that crosses the village in the direction of different residential areas in the area. During these years they have made several reforms to enlarge the space and to be able to introduce the new articles in demand: haberdashery, drugstore, press, stationery, and ironmongery, among others.
It is striking that in the shop you can find many publications and press in several languages, mainly in English. This is because they also have a British clientele who have taken up residence in the residential areas surrounding the village of Sant Climent.
Ca na Magdalena has been in business uninterruptedly since its foundation. It is the only shop in the village that offers a wide range of articles and, as a local shop, it meets an important customer demand and avoids having to travel to other towns.
When Magdalena retired in 1986, her son, Juan Francisco Pons, and his wife, Mari Villalonga, took over the shop. Since 2014 the shop has been run by her grandson, Pedro Pons Villalonga, with his wife, Laura Carreras Pons.
