Can Garí

With eighty years of history, Can Garí is a family business that for four generations has been dedicated to the sale of foodstuffs and is known for the artisanal production of traditional Menorcan sausages, mainly sobrasada (cured pork sausage).

In 1940, Hermínia Cardona opened the doors of a small shop in Sant Jaume street in Maó. The business continued with his son José Garí, who together with his wife, Magdalena Cifuentes, expanded the business in the 1970s with a new shop in the Plaza de Eivissa, in one of the first buildings in the neighbourhood, driven by the enthusiasm and desire of two of his four sons, Amadeo and Juan José Garí Cifuentes. The latter continued to run the business with their wives Rosa Ramón and Marta Tudurí, respectively.

Around 2010, they added another shop on Avenida de Vives Llull. Two years later, they opened another outlet on Avenue du Fort de l’Eau.

As a family business, over the years, all the sons and nephews of Amadeo and Juan José have worked in the company for varying lengths of time. Finally, it is Lourdes and Esther Garí Ramón, Amadeo’s daughters, who work on a permanent basis. When their father died in 2017, they became part of the management of Can Garí and with them began the fourth generation of this family business.

Since 2019, Juan José Garí and his wife Marta Tudurí have been running the shop on Avinguda de Vives Llull with the new company Comestibles Garí Tudurí.

Can Garí, with its shops in Plaça d’Eivissa and Avinguda de El Fort de l’Eau, continues under the management of Lourdes and Esther, together with their mother, Rosa.

Today, this long-established shop maintains the appreciation of its clientele thanks to the quality of its products, especially the sausages, and the maintenance of its traditional values.
