Can Paner

Can Paner is a shop founded in 1941 by Llorenç Pons Cerdà and his wife Margalida Aguiló, which specialises in the sale of all kinds of food products, household goods, haberdashery and drugstore. It is what used to be known as a “colmado”, that is, a shop where you could find a bit of everything.

Llorenç was a shopkeeper, and when he started the business, he would buy and sell products such as apricots, flour, dried fruits and ammonia, among others.

Later, his daughter Catalina, with the help of her husband Toni, took over the business, where they worked for more than sixty years. It is currently run by sisters Francisca and Margalida Cifre Pons, the third generation of the family.

Since its beginnings, Can Paner has sold all kinds of products, and the people of Alcúdia go there, as they did in the past, to find articles and solutions for traditional use that are not available in other establishments. As an example of this, it is worth mentioning that you can buy spices in bulk which they mix themselves. They also offer homemade solutions that have been lost today, such as formulas for washing clothes.

When you enter Can Paner, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the traditional grocery shops, as they have kept their façade and the changes inside maintain the same line as when the shop was opened.
