Ca’n Rovelló

Margalida Matamalas, a native of Manacor, opened a warehouse for noodles, rice, wheat, etc., at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, focusing on the sale and purchase of these materials, especially wholesale.

Margalida had a daughter and four sons, of whom Toni Girard Matamalas was the only one who wanted to continue with the business. When he inherited it, he decided to exchange the cereal warehouse for a grocery shop. Toni had two daughters and two sons and, like his mother, he left the business to those who wanted to continue it, or rather his two daughters.

Coloma Girard Llodrà ran the shop with her sister, now deceased, until she handed it over to her daughter, Bel Sansó Girard, the fourth generation of the family, who is currently running the shop with her cousin, Toni Girard, although Coloma stays in the shop to lend a hand.

In addition to buying and selling, they also grow certain products such as oranges in winter or melons, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelons and more summer season products, which they also sell to their customers.
