Can Salem

Macià Oliver Joan founded this baker’s shop on 16 August 1967. Members of his family were known by the nickname Salem, which is the origin of the name of the establishment Can Salem, today a high-quality baker’s and cake shop run by his son, Jaume Oliver.

The shop is located in a side-street surrounded by old houses, right in the centre of Algaida. The premises have been refurbished, but still conserve a style that is both traditional and functional.

The shop specialises in all kinds of traditional Majorcan confectionery, and its products are 100% hand-made, prepared with top-quality raw materials purchased from local producers. The establishment is known all over the island for its wide variety of ensaimadas, with crème brûlée, truffle or fresh cream fillings, among many others, It is also famous for its cremadillos (crispy puff pastry tarts) and llonguets (bread rolls), together with its different varieties of bread, empanadas, cakes, madeleines and pastries of all kinds.
