Ca’n Senyalet

Founded around 1935 at Carrer de S’Arraval, 131 by Antoni Ferrer, Ca’n Senyalet is one of the oldest bread ovens in Maó. The products they sell include ensaimadas and formatjades, although they also make all kinds of Menorcan pastries and cakes. The secret of its longevity lies in the artisanal production of its products.

In 1956, the shop moved to number 170 of the same street, where it remains to this day. The second generation of the family, the brothers Manolo and Jaime Ferrer, ran the family business for many years. Currently, Manolo Ferrer, the third generation, is in charge of Ca’n Senyalet, although he previously shared the management and running of the business with his cousins.

Interestingly, it is worth mentioning that the establishment still has some old machines, one of which is still in operation. Likewise, the premises have undergone changes due to the restoration and modernisation required by the passage of time. It has an exterior sign characterised by its channel lettering.

The oven is part of the ‘Pa d’aquí, forn i tradició’ brand, which distinguishes establishments with a bakery that make the different types of bread from the Balearic Islands.
