Cuchillería Sineu

Guillem Bernat and Apol·lònia Abraham, from a traditional family of trinxeters from Sineu, settled in Palma in 1971 to open a cutlery shop. Accompanied by their daughters Francisca and Miquela, they originally sold in the Plaça de Pere Garau and at the Les Avingudes street market. They later opened a shop that they managed at the same time as the market stalls.

There was a time when Guillem made knives (table knives, kitchen knives, slaughter knives, etc.), sickles, trinxet, saws and other bespoke tools. When he died in 1984, his wife and two daughters decided to continue the business until the present day.

It is one of the few remaining cutlery shops where you can find handmade penknives, knives, trinxets, tools for the countryside and utensils for private and professional kitchens. They have a collection of all kinds of Mallorcan knives with animal bone handles (trinxet, gatxolla, de porquer, etxurat, pescador, d’empeltar and de pastor), made by Guillem. They also still have the flint and the wick burner that shepherds used to use.
