Es Supermercat de Son Macià

About a hundred years ago, Andreva Llinars Sureda and Xisco Vaquer Sitges opened the Can Pelut Bar and, right next door, a grocery shop. The couple had no children, so their nieces, Andreva and Catalina, took over the business. In 1959, they bought the grocery shop that is currently run by Tomeu Barceló, Catalina’s son, together with his wife.

Known by the nickname of Can Murtero, in Es Super de Son Macià we can find local food and other products such as stationery, hygiene and cleaning products, pet food, etc.

Tomeu, the third generation of the family, remembers that when he was a child there was a wood-fired oven in the establishment, where they used to bake “cocas”, “panades” (pies), etc. There are still some elements left, such as a scale, hooks to hang pigs, etc.

It was one of the first shops to open in Son Macià and is currently the only shop left in the village.
