Fajas Reina

José Masdeu and Pilar Pedragosa arrived from Barcelona in 1941 and opened Fajas Reina. The original premises, located in the Plaça de la Mare de Déu de la Salut, could be entered through a side doorway. The only link between the shop and the outside world was a small window overlooking the street.

In the 1960s, the family moved to its current location, where they set up the shop and the workshop, a space located in the basement where twenty-three girls produced made-to-measure corsetry pieces. Today, the workshop has been relocated, but it is still in operation, adapted to modern times, both in terms of design and production systems. They also offer breast prostheses and products for mastectomised women.

The shop passed from the founders to their son Francisco, who had spent a year in Barcelona to learn how the business works and the steps involved in manufacturing and tailoring.

The shop is currently run by the two granddaughters of the founders, Neus and Maria del Mar Masdeu, who continue the business of their parents and grandparents. The shop still has vintage corsets as well as several pieces of furniture from the 1960s.
