Forn Ca na Juanaineta

Can na Juanaineta is one of the best known bakeries among the residents of Alaró, both young and old, many of whom remember going there when they were children. Situated in Carrer d’Enmig, near the centre of the village, it connects the area of Los Damunt with the square, a street that is very popular with the locals.

The establishment was opened in 1923 by the same family that has been running the business until very recently. Joan Guasp, the fourth generation of the founding family, handed over the business in 2021 to Gabriel Enric Vidal Carreres and Francisca Maria Vidal Canyelles, partners who have taken over the bakery that is so deeply rooted in the town and which, thanks to them, is still in business.

They bake bread and other Mallorcan pastries, both sweet and savoury: ensaimadas, potato coca, apricot coca and also panades, cocarrois, vegetable cocas and typical desserts of the island, such as gató d’ametla, cardenal, duquesas, etc. They are part of the “Pa d’aquí. Forn i Tradició” brand, which distinguishes establishments with a bakery that make the different types of bread from the Balearic Islands.

They also offer a variety of more contemporary desserts, such as lemon pie and chocolate cake, among others. They sell bread and other products on a daily basis, especially at weekends.

The shop is decorated with all kinds of tools and utensils that were used in the past to make the products, as well as various elements that date back many years, such as the hewn stone doorway and olive wood doors. The workshop has undergone several renovations in terms of machinery and furniture in order to bring it up-to-date and make it possible to work more efficiently. The oven that was used in the past has also been preserved, although it is no longer in use.
