Forn Can Pau

At 52, Carrer de la Constitució, there has always been a bakery called Ca n’Amer, although the exact date it started business is not known. Alfonso Corbalán bought it in 1955 and changed its name to Forn Can Corbalán. He ran it for twenty years.

On the other hand, Pau Puigserver started working at the age of fourteen in Forn Can Coll d’es Puiget, which was one of the largest bakeries in Llucmajor. Later, in 1986, the desire to have his own business coincided with his experience and the opportunity to sell Can Corbalán, and that is how he started his own bakery.

Ca’n Pau is known for its magnificent cocas de verdura (vegetable cakes). Interesting enough, during the 80’s and 90’s, there were days with queues of more than 150 people to buy these cocas. On the other hand, they are also renowned for their ensaimadas, which won third prize in the 4th World Ensaimada Championship, as well as other mentions in different competitions.

His son Miquel took over the bakery ten years later, in 1996. Apart from the typical Majorcan products, such as ensaimadas, cocarrois, panades, etc., he wanted to innovate and has specialised in making ensaimadas in different flavours, such as the successful “ensaimada bomba”, made with Oreo biscuits and Kinder Bueno, among other sweets. For the last fifteen years, he has also specialised in making the “cardenal”, a cake that is very well known on the island, but which no one had ever made before in Llucmajor. Ca’n Pau is also distinguished for the size of its products, and, as Miquel says, “we offer a very low price for such a large size”!
