Forn Can Vadell

Historically, bakeries and patisseries are especially important in Mallorcan society, especially in Campos. They are still a very present commercial activity in the town today, as they are the daily shopping and meeting points for many locals.

Forn de Can Vadell began its activity when the couple formed by Biel Vadell Tomás and Miquela Salas Mas opened the business. Biel had previously worked at the Forn de Can Pere, where he started working in 1963. From 1980 onwards, he took over the business in partnership with Pere Vadell, who was until then the owner of the bakery. Miquela also started working there and, in fact, they lived in the bakery until 1989, when they set up their own business in Carrer de Manacor.

Nowadays, his son Joan Vadell, a baker and pastry chef, oversees the workshop where they make all the fresh baked goods and pastries with raw materials of the highest possible quality. To make these products they follow processes and formulas that have been passed down from generation to generation within the family.

They are members of the brand “Pa d’Aquí. Forn i Tradició”, which distinguishes the establishments with a bakery that make the diverse types of bread in the Balearic Islands. They make brown bread, 100% whole wheat bread, rye bread, llonguets and oil bread rolls. They were finalists in the 2023 Premi Millor Pa Moreno de Mallorca.

Among their specialities are traditional products such as panades and robiolas, as well as cremadillos and other pastries that they make during the weekend. One of the bakery’s most important products are ensaimadas. It is worth mentioning that they make products such as biscuit, prims, galeites de refús, panets dolos and sopes mallorquines, which are no longer available in many bakeries.

They also have a small shop section where you can buy a bit of everything, but local products such as ice cream and honey are worth mentioning.

The best accreditation of the bakery is to try to do a job well done every day and to have the capacity for self-criticism, taking care of all the processes to improve and innovate. But what is important for Forn de Can Vadell are its daily customers, many of them from different generations of the same family.
