Forn de la Concepció

Joan Roca has been the owner of this oven since 1902, where Joan Isern began to work and learn the trade at the tender age of 16. When he finished his military service, following a break in his apprenticeship, he returned to Palma to buy the business in 1971, which he renamed after the street where it is located, Forn de la Concepció.

Together with his wife, Maria Sureda, they added the pastries and other traditional products to the range of bread on offer and opened a second shop in Plaça de Barcelona. Nowadays, Joan and Maria have passed the baton to their children, but every day, without fail, they make the first coffee of the day in the oven’s cafeteria.

The traditional and unique bakery and pastry shop continues to produce breads, cakes and the old recipes of the trade, keeping the Mallorcan culture alive. It still produces its products in accordance with traditional and local customs, and makes the typical sweets for each season, keeping the culinary traditions alive. For the locals, this is a favourite place to buy bread, rolls and other sweets.
