Forn de la Glòria
The first recorded evidence of the oven dates back to 1717. The current owners, Sebastià and Francisca Camps, say that the Llibre del Repartiment of James I already includes a reference to the location of an oven in the same street, where people used to bake bread and other products.
The building where it currently resides was not built until 1870; before that, the business was located across the street. At the beginning of the 20th century, modernist features were introduced, which we can still find inside the building today.
Sebastià Camps and Francisca Sastre bought the oven in 1977, and the family saga began, which their two children, Sebastià and Francisca, continue to this day.
They bake all kinds of traditional dishes in the original Moorish wood-fired oven. The ensaimada, which has been awarded the Ensaimada de Mallorca seal, is one of their star products, along with different kinds of bread such as spelt, rye, wholemeal, etc. and other delicacies that have made them a daily staple for the locals. They are part of the “Pa d’aquí. Forn i Tradició” brand, which distinguishes establishments with a bakery that make the different types of bread from the Balearic Islands.
