Forn i Pastisseria Ramis

Forn i Pastisseria Ramis is a family business founded in 1970 by the master pastry chef Pedro Ramis Amengual. In Llucmajor, it is popularly known as the “forn des jardinet”, as it is located in front of the small round square of the cobbler or the trough, located at Carrer Antoni Maura, 11. In 1983 they moved to number 15 of the same street, where they still are today.

The baker Miquel Julià Mulet opened the “forn des jardinet” in the 1920s. In the 1960s, Julià Bakery and Pastry Shop was owned by Lorenzo Julià Salvà and Catalina Vanrell Amengual. Catalina was the godmother of Pedro Ramis, who received his first lessons as a baker from Miquel Julià.

Throughout his career, Pedro Ramis trained as a baker in various schools both nationally – Barcelona, Madrid, León – and internationally – France, Germany, Italy. He also took part in different events related to gastronomy and craftsmanship held in Mallorca, such as the Muestra de Cocina Mallorquina, Baleart, etc.

His legacy lives on thanks to his children. In 2001, they opened a cafeteria with a bakery and pastry shop at Ronda de Migjorn, 10.

In 2020, the shop in Carrer Antoni Maura was refurbished and a small cafeteria was added. The entrance with the name engraved on the floor, some display cabinets and a bench with a mirror, typical of the period, were preserved, giving the shop a nostalgic air.

They make their products using traditional methods and quality raw materials. They are renowned for what is known as “signature patisserie”, and they put a lot of care and imagination into making their cakes in a traditional but innovative and different way. They stand out for different types of products, such as músics, borratxos, ensaimadas and handmade turrón, among others, which people come and fetch from different parts of Mallorca.
