Fotografia Bennàssar

Fotografia Bennàssar opened its doors in 1942 and has its commercial premises and main business centre in Carrer Major in Felanitx. Today it is the third generation of the Bennàssar family that manages a business, always been linked to the photography sector.

Historically, they have been a reference in photography, both locally and throughout Mallorca. The work carried out in the production of exhibitions on the island or in the Balearic Islands pavilion at the Expo in Seville in 1992, which was the Guinness Record for the largest photograph ever taken, as well as collaborations in different international tourism fairs, stand out.

Currently they offer a wide variety of services in addition to the photographic studio, where they do social, studio, advertising, product, etc. photography. They also sell amateur photography items, digital development, frames and albums, among others. They have a printing and graphic design workshop, large format printing on all types of materials, as well as a photographic finishing and framing workshop.

Since the Nitxdelart of Felanitx was created in 2005, they have an annexe dedicated to the exhibition of photographic art, where in addition to their own works, photographers such as Agustí Torres, Miquel Julià, Tolo Balaguer, Biel Grimalt, Juanjo Alfonso, Marina Cànovas, etc. have exhibited their work.

The great historical value of Fotografia Bennàssar’s photographic archive both for Felanitx and for the rest of the island should be pointed out. This archive includes negatives and photographs from the beginning of the century up to the present day, from our own images and those of other photographers, mostly from Felanitx, whose families have donated the funds. It began to be ordered and digitised in 2017 with the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the opening of the shop.
