Galletes Gori de Muro
Since 1890 the Noceras family has been making galetes d’oli (olive oil biscuits) by hand, biscuits with a long history and recognised as the most traditional biscuits in Mallorca.
From the very beginning, this small bakery located in the old quarter of Muro has been making sailor’s biscuits and other local products such as ensaimadas, empanadas (panades) or bread. Formerly known as ‘sailors’ bread’, this type of biscuit was always highly appreciated by sailors on long voyages across the Mediterranean. As a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that its durability meant that even English shipping companies stocked up on these biscuits when they called at Menorca. In fact, they have now successfully revived this type of biscuit.
Gori Noceras began this stage of the family saga when he took over the business in the 1970s. He ran it until 2010, when he retired and left the business to his sons Nofre and Sebastià.
Currently the brothers Nofre and Sebastià Noceras, grandsons of the founder, are in charge of the bakery and continue to expand the biscuit business.
Their philosophy is to continue respecting the traditional way of making the products and to do so with the natural ingredients that are still available on the island, as well as always using quality raw materials. They have a wide variety of products, such as classic biscuits, wholemeal biscuits, seed and cereal biscuits, rye biscuits, among others.
