Gaspar Bou
The short history of this business begins with the marriage of Francesc Aguiló, from Can Pep Bou in Muro, and Margalida Pomar, from Can Perico in Santanyí, whose family already had a clothes shop in their village. Around 1885, Margalida, the grandmother of the current owner, opened a haberdashery. At first they sold fabrics, linings, buttons, threads, etc., but over the years and circumstances changed their activity.
Margalida and Francesc had nine children, all of them entrepreneurs, who started up their own branches of the family business, each developing different lines of business in Muro and other municipalities on the island. Their son Gaspar was a tailor and when he took over the business in 1956 he decided to convert the haberdashery and expand the establishment to sell men’s clothing, which is what we know it as today.
Thanks to his skills as a tailor, he made the garments that were ordered, mainly suits for celebrations such as weddings, first communions and other events. The textile and clothing sector had a great influence in the town, however, with technological innovation it lost a lot of customers.
Margalida Aguiló Perelló is the fourth generation of the family to run the business. Currently it only sells men’s clothing and accessories. They specialise in fashion, both for young people and for formal occasions. Lately, many grooms have been buying their wedding suits in the shop for their special day. They also have a range of large sizes, as well as offering a personalised customer service, tailoring items to suit their.
