Helados Garrido

Helados Garrido began its history in 1965, but its history as an ice-cream maker goes back much further. The business was founded by Francisco Garrido Soler, a native of Jijona, also a master nougat maker, although here he dedicated himself solely to ice cream. Around 1970 the business passed into the hands of his two sons, Francisco and José María Garrido Sánchez.

Initially, they made the products in a small workshop in Port d’Alcúdia, where they still remain at present. At that time, they sold the ice creams in a kiosk as well as on the street with a wheelbarrow.

In June 1975, the brothers, together with their wives, opened an ice cream parlour in the old town of Alcúdia, in Moll street. Years later, in March 1983, they opened another establishment on the seafront promenade of Port d’Alcúdia, a larger establishment with a large terrace. This ice cream parlor in the port has remained open for more than forty years, until it closed its doors in 2024.

Helados Garrido has won several national and international awards for its ice cream. The first prize was won in Valencia in 1981. In 1983, it won an award in Italy for the quality of the product. In 1989 and 1990, it won two more in Jijona.

Today, Helados Garrido is run by the second generation of the family, with the help of external collaborators who coordinate the premises and the workshop, where they continue to maintain the same line of artisan production as always and offer more than 40 flavours. In addition, raw materials are very important to them, which is why they always use natural, quality products.

Their star products are the slushies and the natural Valencian tigernut milk shake. They also stand out for their elaborate ice cream cups, such as the Negrita and Banana Split cups, among others, which they serve at their establishment in Alcúdia.
