Imprenta Nueva Balear
Imprenta Nueva Balear is a business that has survived among new business models. Located next to a department store, it still maintains the machinery and techniques that the founding German company established in 1913 for the manufacture of cards. For more than 90 years, the company has been printing all types of products, including posters, cards, books and more.
In 1921, in order to pay off some electricity debts, the business passed into the hands of Jordi Aguiló, who changed the name to La Balear.
The building where the printing press is currently located was built between 1926 and 1927, designed by the architect Guillem Forteza, to which the printing machinery was moved. Nowadays, the space is divided into two parts, one for customer service and the other, larger space where the printing press itself is located.
In the 1940s, the company Imprenta Nueva Balear de Aguiló y Valentí was founded, but in the 1950s Cayetano Aguiló, the father of the current owner, ended up buying out his partner’s half of the business. Years later, he handed the business over to Robert Aguiló Bonnin.
Today, the fourth generation of the family, brothers Robert and Betlem Aguiló Mora, maintain the original machinery at full capacity, combining various printing systems such as lithography and digital printing with other paper handling techniques to offer quality craftsmanship. It now specialises in cards and party accessories.
