Joieria Fill de Jaume Segura

The history of this jewellery shop begins when Jaume Segura, a native of Muro, who already came from a family of jewellers, went to the markets of many towns to sell jewellery. His wife was from Sa Pobla, the municipality where they settled when they married. In 1926 they set up their own jewellery shop.

Over the years the jewellery shop passed into the hands of their son, Miquel Segura, who learned the jeweller’s trade at a very young age, and his wife Margalida Socies. Finally, from the year 2000 to the present day, the business has been run by Maria de la Pau, the founder’s granddaughter.

The Joieria Fill de Jaume Segura is one of the most traditional and historic businesses in the north of Majorca. They have the best brands of jewellery and watches on the market, as well as typical Majorcan pieces and jewellery of their own manufacture. They design and manufacture to the client’s taste and transform antique jewellery into modern and original jewellery. As an anecdote, it is worth mentioning that Queen Victoria Eugenia wore a boutonniere made by his grandfather, a gift from the members of the Red Cross of Sa Pobla.

He says that the business has changed a lot over the years. Before, they used to sell higher quality jewellery, but with the crisis of the past years, the change has been very noticeable. They started to sell the gold they had at home and silver became very fashionable.

The interior of the establishment was refurbished in 1975-1976, and again in 1991, but the façade was maintained from the beginning.
