Joieria Victòria
Joieria Victòria opened its doors between 1941 and 1943, and specialises in the sale and repair of jewellery and watches.
Pep Aguiló, who was dedicated to the trade of precious metals, started the history of this jewellery shop. His father already had a jewellery workshop in Carrer de L’Argenteria and he decided to establish himself in the early 1940s in Carrer de El Lledoner in Alcúdia, where we can still find the Joieria Victòria, located in a protected building in the historic centre and surrounded by the characteristic city walls. His activity also led him to visit other towns, such as Inca or Artà, and he was known by everyone as En Pep d’Alcúdia. Later, he opened another jewellery shop in Port d’Alcúdia.
His daughters, Maria and Elionor, followed in his footsteps, Maria running the jewellery shop in Port d’Alcúdia and Elionor the one in the centre of the village. Nowadays they continue the family tradition, but unfortunately the Port d’Alcúdia jewellery shop remains closed.
In the early 80’s, Elionor and her husband José Sánchez opened a new jewellery shop in Port d’Alcúdia, in Pere Mas i Reus avenue, which focused on the summer months. Elionor’s sons have joined the business, and each one runs an establishment: José Manuel the one in Pere Mas i Reus avenue in the Port, and Javier, the jewellery shop in El Lledoner street in Alcúdia.
The Joieria Victòria is well known by all the people of Alcúdia, as it is one of the most traditional and historic businesses in the municipality. During all these years, three generations of the family have given service to the town in different areas within the trade, they have improved year after year, they have learned a little more of this ancient trade every day, and at the same time they have innovated with new technologies.
