Jugueteria Can Pila

At Christmas 1965, Francisco Oliver Pila started the toy shop. He and his wife ran it until it was passed on to their daughters. Nowadays one of them, Magdalena, runs the shop. She says that her childhood has been linked to the shop and that at Christmas, when she was four or five years old, she was already helping in the shop. When her mother retired, she had to take a step forward, even though she had another job. Over the years, her father’s second surname, Pila, has become the name by which the whole family is known in Felanitx.

In the 1980s, they moved the business to the current premises in Sa Plaça street, more integrated in the centre of the town, while keeping the original premises as a warehouse. In fact, the family lives on the upper floor of the shop. The house where it is located is 200 years old and preserves original architectural elements.

Entering Can Pila is a child’s dream, as you can find toys of every imaginable type, both classic and modern. They have a stock of 10,000 different items spread over the 100 square metres of the shop, where no two products are the same.

Can Pila has seen several generations of children come and go in this period. Those who used to go shopping as children with their grandparents now return with their children or nephews and nieces.

Personalised service is their hallmark, and they have customers from other municipalities such as Llucmajor, Santanyí and Palma. They build customer loyalty, as they look for the ideal toy for each child. Can Pila is the only toy shop in the Migjorn and Llevant de Mallorca that does not belong to a commercial chain, although it is part of a cooperative and the jocsencatala.cat network of establishments.
