La Veneciana
Miquel Arbona, a native of Sóller and grandfather of the current owner, studied textile design in Barcelona. When he finished his studies, he returned to his hometown to set up a factory, which closed years later due to the 1929 crisis. As a result of this event, Miquel settled in Calle de la Ample de la Mercè in Palma, where he opened Tejidos Arbona in 1938.
He entered into a working relationship with the owners of La Veneciana and, years later, in 1952, his son Pedro Arbona bought and kept this establishment, unifying the two businesses, but keeping the name La Veneciana.
In 1953, they moved to Carrer de El Sindicat, where they opened La Veneciana Boutique as a clothing shop, but in 2014 they closed it to focus solely on haberdashery.
Since 1989, Pere Antoni Arbona, together with his sister Xisca, the third generation of the family, has run the business dedicated to haberdashery and lingerie, from where they offer a wide range of products and accessories, both to local and foreign customers, who are attracted to the shop by its wide range of products. Interestingly, they still own the calculator with which they used to calculate all their transactions.
