The Tortella family opened this establishment in 1964, and it is now the second generation that runs this handmade glass business.
Located on the Valldemossa road, the Lafiore building has undergone few modifications, with one part dedicated to the exhibition and the other for the glass factory. However, in recent years the interior layout and furnishings have been changed to adapt it to the new concept of Lafiore Creative & Select Store, which has meant that, in addition to blown glass pieces, the shop now includes high-quality contemporary objects made in Mallorca, such as fabrics (teles de llengües), ceramics, furniture, gourmet products, etc. The façade has also been updated with the incorporation of the new company logo.
Lafiore has one of the few glass-blowing workshops still open on the island that preserves this tradition. They also have a creative studio where other processing techniques like fusing are developed. In collaboration with designers and architects, they make glass and artistic glass objects for decor projects all over the world and create products with updated traditional designs, such as Majorcan oil cruets, bottles, goblets, plates, vases, candelabras and lamps, among others.
The special feature of the factory is that you can visit and see first-hand how the master craftsmen make a piece of blown glass from 100% recycled material.
