Librería Ripoll
The history of this traditional Palma bookshop, specialising in antique books, manuscripts and engravings, began in 1930. Its founder, Tomás Ripoll Sastre, a native of Randa, initially opened its doors on Carrer de Can Sanç.
Despite the closure of the establishment during the Civil War, the business reopened at the end of the conflict. First, it moved to Carrer de Verge de Lluc, near Plaça Quadrado, where Tomás worked with his brother Guillem. Later, in 1941, they moved to Carrer de Sant Miquel.
After the founder’s death in 1971, his nephew, Manuel Ripoll, took over the management of the bookshop until 2015. Although the economic crisis forced the physical shop on Carrer de Sant Miquel to close, the business kept going thanks to online sales, which had already begun in the 1990s.
Finally, in 2024, the bookshop made a significant return to its origins. After nine years of physical closure and overcoming the pause caused by the pandemic, the business reopened its doors in the same location it had when it was first opened on Carrer de Can Sanç, in a renovated premises owned by Manuel Ripoll. His daughter Carolina joined the business in 2019 and is currently the administrator. They offer a carefully selected range of books, paintings and lithographs that blend tradition and modernity in a unique space.
