Magatzem Amador Camps Niel
Around the 1940s, Antoni Camps Real bought the plot of land and built the establishment, which has always been in the same location since the beginning. The purpose of the business was that of an agricultural warehouse; it was dedicated to supplying the farmers with the raw materials they needed, as well as buying and selling cereals and other agricultural products.
Antoni’s family had a blacksmith’s shop in Sineu that was dedicated to manufacturing and repairing agricultural tools and shoeing animals, among other activities. At a very young age, he was already working and therefore had contact with the agricultural world. It should be remembered that in those years the main economic activities of the village depended on the primary sector.
In 1950 they acquired a millstone flour mill and began to produce flour for sale. Grain was also milled by private individuals who took it to be milled in the storehouse.
In 1980 a generational change took place and Amador Camps Niell, Antoni’s son, took over the business. Around 1990, Isabel Fornari Cloquell, his wife, joined him and together they took the business forward. The agricultural sector has undergone profound changes from the beginning to the present day, and the business has adapted without losing the essence of an agricultural store. Today we can also find a wide variety of pet food and phytosanitary products.
Some elements such as the millstone mill have been preserved, although it was discontinued in the 2000s, as its use is no longer viable.
Currently, Toni Amador Camps Fornari, Amador, and Isabel’s son, works in the warehouse and will possibly continue it, being the third generation at the head of the family business.
