Muebles Nicolau

The history of Muebles Nicolau began in 1920 when Antonio Nicolau Porcel opened an establishment in La Costa d’en Brossa dedicated to the sale of stretcher tables, curtain galleries and drawer units that served as auxiliary furniture. It is one of the oldest furniture shops in Palma, and throughout its history it has adapted to the times and has witnessed the different types of furniture that have been introduced over the years.

It is worth mentioning as a curiosity that this street was popularly known as “carrer de les Cadiretes” (little chairs) because of the children’s chairs that were displayed hanging on the façades of the different furniture stores in the street.

With the entry of the second generation, Antonio Nicolau Contestí and his wife Maribel Alberti Ferrer, the company began to modernise and stopped selling auxiliary furniture and started to offer decoration services.

In the 1960s they moved the business to Carrer de Jeroni Pou, where they continued with the same activity and in 1996 they moved to their current location in Carrer de Ricardo Ortega. They currently work with all styles of furniture, but focus more on modern and rustic contemporary styles.

Today the business is run by brothers Toni and Jaume Nicolau, the third generation of the same family branch to run the establishment.
