Òptica Carreras

Òptica Carreras is an establishment that has focused, for over ninety years, on people’s health and aesthetics, specifically in the area of the eyes, vision, image and visual well-being. In order to satisfy its corporate purpose, the trade offers products and services to satisfy the needs of its customers.

It was Antonio Carreras Pons, the first generation and grandfather of the current owner, who started the activity in 1928. He expanded the silversmith’s shop he then ran with the optical advances of the time, to end up being exclusively an optical specialist. In 1937, Ana Tudurí, Antonio’s wife, took over, but she died during the Spanish Civil War. Later, Benjamín Carreras Tudurí, the second generation of the family, took over the management of the optician’s shop. In 1994, Gràcia Carreras, the current owner of the business, joined the optician’s in order to take over its management in 2005.

It is a point of interest that Òptica Carreras was a pioneer in the introduction of contact lenses in Menorca in 1970 and that nowadays it is still very specialised in this field. It is also a pioneer in Ortho-k fitting and scleral lenses.
