Papelería Tramontana
Since 1977, Tramontana has been an establishment dedicated to the stationery sector, as well as a bookshop, bookbinding and printing service, with special dedication to everything related to the world of nativity scenes, especially handcrafted figures.
The stationery shop was founded by the married couple Cristóbal Tomás Vila and Francisca Llompart Díaz. The latter was in charge of the commercial management and was the soul of the business, with the help of her brother, Bernardo Llompart, and Juan Prieto, in the administrative part. Nowadays, her son Cristóbal Tomás Llompart runs the business.
The history of the Tomás family, one of the oldest in the city and linked to the world of commerce, cannot be overlooked, since 1878, when Cristóbal Tomás Taltavull began his commercial activity dedicated mainly to wholesale. Later on, he opened a retail shop in Calle de S’Arravaleta, selling groceries and colonial goods. He was also involved in the world of catering (Fonda del Llatzeret), sailing (pailebote San Rafael), and his son, Pedro Tomás Sitges, as well as continuing the family business, entered the world of cinema and founded the Cine España, located in Roig street. Finally, Cristóbal Tomás Vila, the third generation, took over and continued with the wholesale store and founding the Papelería Tramontana.
During these years of existence, the stationery shop’s main objective has been to give maximum attention to its customers, so that everyone is satisfied with the service and treatment received, always offered in a personal way.
The establishment has preserved the structure with arcades and coloured skylights, typically Menorcan, and the original decoration and furniture since its opening.
