Papereria Ca’n Verdera
Located in the Marina neighbourhood, Ca’n Verdera has been around for over a century and is the oldest stationery shop on the island. Its origins date back to 1871, when José Verdera Ramón, who was mayor of the city, housed a printing press that he bought.
This shop sold all kinds of papers, books, cards, christening reminders, school material, and even Ibizans relied on it to make postcards “à la carte”. In those years, Ca’n Verdera also had a fine arts area at the entrance of the shop. Many of the painters of the time, such as Vicent Ferrer Guasch, bought their material there.
José Verdera’s son, Julià, and later his three sons, Vicent, Pep and Manuel, turned Ca’n Verdera into a commercial centre for anyone interested in bringing a product to Eivissa.
Nowadays, the third generation of the family runs Ca’n Verdera and maintains the establishment as a stationer’s shop, bookshop and you can also buy the daily press and magazines.
