Quesada Decoracion

Joaquim Quesada and his wife Isabel Fuentes opened this establishment in 1890. In the beginning, they would come from Alicante for certain periods of time to sell carpets to decorate the palaces of the families of the Mallorcan high society. Over time, they opened a permanent shop and expanded by opening different workshops to carry out decoration-related work.

From the premises on Paseo de El Born and the workshop on Carrer de Sant Feliu, where around forty craftsmen worked, they designed and manufactured furniture and fabrics which, to this day, are still the shop’s speciality. Isabel Quesada, who currently runs the business with her sister Magdalena, explains that they are dedicated to “dressing up houses”, offering their experience to people in everything related to decoration and interior design. Here you can find all kinds of fabrics, furniture, lights in different styles, carpets and decorative objects such as crockery, candles, paintings, pillows and more.

The passion with which Isabel talks about arts and crafts and William Morris patterns reflects the shop’s leitmotiv. The register notebook still keeps records in blue ink each and every one of the pieces that were manufactured in the past, when Quesada Tapicerías decorated emblematic places such as the Hotel Formentor or the rooms of the Palau March, as well as other Mallorcan properties.

The fact that it has been in operation for more than one hundred and twenty-five years, and is therefore the oldest remaining upholstery, decoration and accessories shop in Palma, is particularly remarkable. In 2015, they moved to their current location on Carrer de Montcades.
