Sintor

Sintor was founded around 1956 by brothers-in-law Francisco Pons Sintes and Enrique Pons Orfila, in S’Arraval street. From the beginning, the business was focused on the sale of radios, magnet repair and the manufacture of coils, as these were common household products at the time. From 1962 onwards, they began to manufacture and sell black and white televisions, since the arrival and subsequent generalisation of colour television did not take place until well into the seventies. The success of television sales was so great that up to 1974, some 2,500 units were produced.

In 1974 the two partners each went their separate ways. Sintor moved to its current location on Carrer de Sant Esteve. Enrique Pons Orfila, meanwhile, moved the Sime establishment to the Plaza de La Miranda, a shop that had been founded a few years earlier.

Gabriel Pons Mercadal, second generation and son of the founder, took over the business in 1993, and today he is still at the helm of this trusted shop. Their customers emphasise the personalised advice and care, as well as exemplary technical service.

As an interesting sidepoint, it is worth mentioning that it was the first establishment in the city to produce and sell televisions, making it a leading and trusted name in the sale of household appliances and similar products.

Today, they still sell televisions, although they have adapted to modern times and have extended their offer to include all kinds of household appliances, such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners, etc.
