Sombrerería Casa Juliá

In 1898, Francesc Julià opened a hat factory and a hat shop under the name of Casa Julià in El Sindicat, a street that used to be called Sa Capelleria in reference to the numerous hat shops that were located there. Today, Casa Julià is the only living witness to those times in Palma.

A reference written in 1903 can be found, on the occasion of the “Exposición Balear. Ferias y Fiestas de Palma”, in which its founder was awarded the diploma and silver medal for the best hat making.

The lack of materials during the post-war period was responsible for the closure of the factory, located on the upper floor of the shop. Nevertheless, Francesc Juliá fought to keep the hat shop open and to continue offering felt hats. In 1992, they revived the design and manufacture of authentic Mallorcan hats.

The establishment has always been run by the same family, and has been passed down from father to son, always remaining in the same location. Since 2014, the business has been run by siblings Daniel and Silvia Estela, who represent the fourth generation of owners.

Today, they mainly sell hats and caps, but they also sell other accessories, such as umbrellas, fans, gloves, scarves, walking sticks, etc. They have been able to combine traditional design with current fashion, offering a quality and distinct product. Their discretion, extensive knowledge of what they sell and personalised service have made them a reference point for all Mallorcans and also for famous personalities from all over the world, such as writers, actors, politicians and many others.
