Xoriguer

In 1945, Miguel Pons Justo founded the Xoriguer distilleries in premises in the port of Maó, where gin is still made using traditional methods in stills that are more than 250 years old. This unique fact has earned them the distinction of geographical indication “Gin de Mahón”. It is a family business that produces more than half a million bottles of Xoriguer, which they sell throughout Spain and in other countries in Europe and other continents.

A visit to the distilleries is a popular tourist attraction during the months of April to October, when the company opens its doors to visitors and tourists who can enjoy a tour of the facilities and learn how the main product, gin, is made, as well as other liqueurs, such as palo, pomada, herb liqueur, Flor de Vent and Saffron Island. These products can be purchased in the shop located in the distillery itself.

In 1936, it opened its first shop in the city´s historic centre, specifically in Carrer de Sant Jordi, although before that it had already set up a small warehouse that served as a shop in El Cós de Gràcia. Later, the shop moved to Plaça de El Carme, where it is still located today.

In the shop you can find all kinds of liqueurs, especially those made directly by the distillery. During the Christmas holidays, gift hampers and gift sets are added, with typical products made in Menorca.

Currently, the third generation of the family is in charge of the business and continues with the tradition and values acquired from their ancestor. The company maintains the initial essence but has adapted to new technologies and e-commerce as it has an online shop, a website and a presence on social networks.
