Ferreteria Fuster, Can Pep Xim

In 1950, Pep Fuster founded the hardware store, which first of all sold articles to support the large number of carpentry shops in the municipality.

Known in Manacor as Can Pep Xim, the establishment is still in ots original location. Although they have changed premises several times, in 1976 it finally opened in the store where it is now.

Pep Fuster passed the business on to his son, also called Pep, who updated and modernised the products. Years later, in 2002, the ironmonger’s was passed down to the founder’s grandchildren, Joan Manuel and Lourdes Fuster, who are currently running the business and represent the third generation of the family.

Curiously, it is worth mentioning that when Pep Xim started the business, he offered to refill empty paint cans, free of charge, for the new customers he visited, in order to make himself known.

He was also very flexible when it came to granting credit, especially to newly established carpentry workshops.
