The so-called llengües cloth is one of the most representative handicraft products of Mallorca, and Santa Maria del Camí can boast of having a reference company on the island: Artesania Tèxtil Bujosa, one of the few active factories in Mallorca. In addition to the manufacture and sale of authentic Mallorcan “teles de llengües“, there is a whole series of articles made from the same fabric.

Entering the workshop is like stepping into another era; a real experience, with machinery and looms dating from the end of the 19th century. And it goes without saying that the shop also exudes quality craftsmanship in every corner. In this sense, the customers highlight the good work, the proximity, the explanations, and the excellent service of this family saga of the Bujosa family.

The activity began in 1949, with the founder, Guillem Bujosa Rosselló, being passionate about the world of weaving, to which he dedicated his whole life, obtaining the title of master craftsman. Later, his son, Guillem Bujosa Cañellas, who took over and improved the work started by his father, giving a great impulse to Can Bujosa.

Guillem Bujosa Bover, the founder’s grandson, took over the reins of the business and was the mainstay of the third generation of the Bujosa family until his death in 2022, when his sister Maribel took over.

The company is renowned for its craftsmanship and its designs combine tradition and modernity. In addition to fabrics of different types, other items are sold, such as bags, decorative objects, clothing, rocking chairs, tablecloths, aprons, pillows, pieces of natural silk, bedspreads, mats, tapestries, etc.

In any case, the llengües cloth, made with the millenary technique of ikat, is the star product. It is not in vain that it is omnipresent in many Mallorcan houses, palaces, possessions and stately homes. And Can Bujosa de Santa Maria has been visited by many famous people. The export of products to different countries around the world has also been a protagonist, and numerous local and international media have reported on it.
