Radio Buades

Joan Buades, the father of the current owner, opened the radio business in Inca in 1940, before moving to Carrer de Els Olms in Palma nineteen years later, in 1959. There they began to sell other products and became leaders in the sale of household appliances, which they introduced into the business as they appeared on the market (fridges, washing machines, televisions, etc.).

The entrepreneurial nature of the founder in his early days stands out, as he would travel around Mallorca with a wheelbarrow selling the Rumbek radios that he made himself. He had spent time working in France and it was there that he learnt how to make these radios. One of these radios can still be seen today in one of the displays of the shop.

Nowadays and for many years, the business has been run by Joan’s son, Ricardo Buades, with the help of his daughter Esther, the third generation of the family.

Since 2017, they have been located in Pau Piferrer street, in the neighbourhood of Es Fortí. The shop currently specialises in lighting, electrical material, radios and small electrical appliances
