Colmado La Montaña

Francisco Miralles wanted to be a sculptor, but with the outbreak of the Civil War, he was forced to enlist and abandon his Fine Arts studies.

At the end of the conflict in 1941, he opened the La Montaña shop, which has been on Carrer de Jaume II since the first day it opened. Francisco began cycling to various farmhouses, which supplied him with the best cheeses on the island.

In 1960, he introduced sobrassada (a raw, cured sausage from the Balearic Islands) as the store’s flagship product and won the International Quality Award that certified the product category.

In 2012, after passing through the hands of Mateu Fiol, the business was bought by Mallorca Delicatessen. The company has since expanded the shop’s products to include oils, honey, jams, liqueurs and other foodstuffs while maintaining the quality seal that has distinguished it since its beginnings and continuing to offer, as always, cheeses, sobrassades and typical Mallorcan products.
