Drogueria Valls

Opened in 1920, Drogueria Valls went from being one of the city’s leading pharmacies to the current drugstore located in Carrer Nou. Nowadays, Can Valls, as many people know it, offers its customers its own drugstore products, as well as beauty, health, orthopaedic and household articles, among others.

The pharmaceutical business was founded in 1920 by two partners, Valls and Pons. With the death of the owner of the pharmacy, the baton was passed to Agustí Valls Landino, second generation and uncle of the current owner, and was later passed to Adela Valls Fortuny, the third generation of the family.

The façade of the building, owned by the Valls family, preserves the original wood panelling from the beginning of the 20th century and is one of the most beautiful in the city. Inside, the pharmacy’s original tall, white shelves have been preserved, with graceful copper-brown filigree plant motifs at the top. You can also make out a wooden coat of arms of Maó, which was a wedding present for the grandfather of the current owner and first generation of the family lineage.
