Ferreteria Can Xic

Can Xic was founded in 1960 in Carrer de Can Monjo in Pòrtol by Miquel Ramis, nicknamed Xic, and Magdalena Serra. In the 1980s, the shop became too small due to the success of the business and they moved to Carrer Major, where they are currently located. The premises were the home of Maria Ramis’ grandparents, the current owner and second generation to run the business, together with her son Miquel.

Maria is full of praise for the work done by her parents to set up the hardware store and keep it alive for so many years. She confesses that Can Xic has been open for so long due to her parents’ enthusiasm and eye for business, never having no for an answer when a customer asked them for something. She remembers that people even came from Valldemossa and Sóller.

In the last few years, they have expanded their business with electrical and plumbing accessories, hardware, decoration, plants, a bit of everything to compete with the shopping centres very close by.
