Forn Can Vadell

Forn Can Vadell is one of the oldest bakeries in Eivissa, founded in 1923, and is a century-old business. This establishment was founded by Joan Marí Planells, Vadell. Joan learned his trade in Barcelona and later decided to transfer his knowledge to the town of Eivissa. At first, this establishment was located in Carrer d’Anníbal, in the Marina neighbourhood. Later, in 1958, he opened a first branch in Avenida de Ignasi Wallis and in 1963 the family moved the bakery to Calle Canarias. This is currently the only shop still open.

Over the years, Josep Marí Ribas, Vadell’s son, took over the management of the business, and his brother-in-law Joan Clapés took over the management of the establishment.

Today it is the third generation of the family who runs the business, where we have Nieves Clapés and Juan Marí, Juanito.

This bakery and patisserie is known for making handmade products typical of the island of Ibiza, such as flaons, madeleines, greixoneres, orelletes, ensaimadas ibicencas and many other traditional confectionery products.

They are members of the Pa d’aquí, Forn i Tradició brand, which distinguishes establishments with a bakery that make the different types of bread from the Balearic Islands, especially the usual ones from Eivissa (Ibiza).
